Dr. Claunch is an ordained minister who has been in full-time ministry since 1968 and currently serves as the Superintendent for the North Texas Assemblies of God. Before being elected in 2017 as Superintendent, he served for ten years as Assistant Superintendent, which included overseeing Missions, Pastoral Care, and the District School of Ministry.

Prior to that, over the span of 29 years, he led three pastorates in Texas and Oklahoma, and served as Presbyter of the South Dallas Section along with other committees of the North Texas District. He also engaged in various associate ministry roles including teaching at his alma mater, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University), as a full-time instructor and adjunct faculty. In 2020, the University recognized him with the P.C. Nelson Distinguished Alumnus Award for his faithful service and outstanding leadership. He is a member of the General Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of Regents for Nelson University, and member of the Board of Directors for Pleasant Hills Children’s Home. Dr. Claunch holds a Master of Divinity from The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Oral Roberts University. He and his wife, Nancy, have two children and are the proud grandparents of six grandchildren.
